Frequently Asked Questions

How many delegates are on each course?

We keep our class sizes small so it’s easier to learn and so that everyone is given close attention by our tutors. On the whole there are two trainers present on every course, and there is a maximum of 12 delegates on our Wedding Workshop, Wedding Seminar, Wedding Portfolio Builder, and on the Portrait Workshop course. However, when we’re out and about on our shoots the groups are split in half, so a maximum of 6 people per shooting group.  We always want to make sure you have plenty of time to shoot and ask questions, so keeping the groups small in this way is really important to us.  For the Funky Portraits the class size is 6, and for the Bridal Boudoir, Intro to Fashion and Lighting for Little Ones courses, the class size is 7.  ’Speedlights in the City’ runs with just 5 delegates.

What equipment should I bring?

If you’re attending a course where we’ll be shooting, you will need to bring your camera along.  A digital SLR is essential, though don’t worry about how good your camera and lenses are.  We teach a system of photography that focuses on understanding light, compostition and subject, so if you can gain a good understanding of these fundamentals, you can capture great photographs with any DSLR.

Who will we be shooting?

We use professional models who are very friendly and happy to be posed by a group of photographers!  We also have a full release signed by each model, so that you can use the images on your own websites.  We try not to use the same models too often and are always bringing new faces to keep images looking fresh and different.

Are model releases in place?

You will be free to use the images you take on any of our courses for your own website, or in sample album / frames etc, to help with the promotion of your own photography business. Please note that the model releases do not permit the resale of these photographs, or magazine publication, without prior written permission from The Trained Eye.

How are the courses taught?

We are keen on getting a friendly, interactive atmosphere going, so that you can get as much from the course as possible.  We are very flexible, so if there is a consensus to spend more time on a specific area we will do so, and similarly if you need some help on a 1-2-1 basis, we will try to assist.

Is lunch provided?

Tea & Coffee is provided throughout the day, and a full lunch is provided on all of our photography courses.

Where should I park?

There is plenty of car parking onsite, try and fill the spaces directly outside the studio first, and then there is a spillover area next to the other barns.
